The home of Volleyball in WA is moving. Temporarily.

For one week only the home of volleyball in WA will be Yagan Square. Volleyball WA is set to bring the Discover Volleyball campaign to the heart of the Perth CBD and give West Australians’ the chance to discover their volleyball game this October.

Discover Volleyball at Yagan Square will be a seven day event run from the 8th to 14th of October, Mental Health Week, promoting a range of ways people can play volleyball.

Partnering with the WA Association for Mental Health, Volleyball WA will be championing this year’s WA Mental Health Week theme, ‘Mental health starts where we live, learn, work and play’.

Utilising Discover Volleyball’s Urban Volley program, Volleyball WA will highlight ways businesses and employees can use lunchtime to achieve a better work life balance and develop good mental health through sport.

“We are thrilled to be bringing volleyball to the heart of Perth so that more people can discover volleyball for the first time. ” Robyn Kuhl Volleyball WA CEO said.

“Discover Volleyball at Yagan Square will be a fantastic week of volleyball which will help promote the sport, as well as raise awareness of the mental health benefits one can achieve through sport. Our Discover Volleyball programs have been designed for people who want to be social and want to be active, the building blocks to developing good mental health. ”

The seven day event will start with free Urban Volley lunch time sessions for Perth CBD employees. Running from Monday the 8th of October to Thursday the 11th of October, employees can head down to Yagan Square and play volleyball from 11am til 2pm.

Discover Volleyball at Yagan Square will also incorporate World Mental Health Day on Wednesday the 10th of October. The WA Association for Mental Health will be down at Yagan Square alongside Volleyball WA’s Urban Volley games handing out free mental health packs to promote ways people can develop good mental health.

The work week will wrap up with the 2018 edition of the Fortix Corporate Cup. This year’s cup will offer five businesses the exclusive chance to go head-to-head at Yagan Square and take out the title.

On Saturday, Discover Volleyball at Yagan Square will open up to the entire public with a FREE three hour Try Volley session. The session will run two courts on the lawn area, a smaller net for kids and a larger net for adults, where people of all skill level can come down and try volleyball.

Then on Sunday the week will finish with two Kids Volley sessions run by the Volleyball WA Steel. Players from WA’s senior indoor men and women’s team will teach kids the basics of volleyball over a 45-minute session. Each sessions will be limited to 20 kids with all funds raised on the day going to the Volleyball WA Steel’s 2018 Australian Volleyball League campaign
