New Events & Programs to kick start School Volley

School Volley presented by Think Again is kicking off 2020 with a bang. The return of the Think Again High Schools Beach Cup and the new Primary Schools Cup will headline a busy 2020.

In 2019 the Term 1 Think Again High Schools Beach Cup saw a record 114 teams descend on City Beach for a competitive day of beach volleyball. In 2020 Volleyball WA is set to make the event even bigger.

This year’s Term 1 event will be delivered alongside Round 7 of the Alcohol Think Again Beach Tour at City Beach. Some of WA’s best senior Beach Volleyball player are expected to play, as WA school teams battle it out for the junior title, all in one day.

The brand new Primary Schools Cup will see Year 3 to 6 teams from across Perth come together to compete for the first edition of the tournament.

Through the Australian Government’s Sporting Schools Program, Volleyball WA has seen a huge growth in the younger age group and will bring the schools together for the first time.

“The new event will provide a platform for Primary Schools to showcase their learnings and compete against each other. Utilising the skills they have developed through our School Volley sessions, I am excited to see these kids come together and play volleyball.” Schools and Junior Development Coordinator Greg Hunt said.

Volleyball WA will continue to deliver Sporting Schools in 2020. If you would like to apply for a grant to receive volleyball coaching at your school please visit: https://www.sportaus.gov.au/schools/schools/funding
