Lead Volley Panel set to help shape future of Volleyball in WA

Volleyball WA is excited to announce applications for the inaugural Lead Volley panel are now open. The new youth advisory panel has been approved by the Volleyball WA board to help guide the implementation of a new leadership pathway for volleyball in WA.

The Lead Volley panel is a major part of the Discover Volleyball campaign and offers young people aged between 18 and 24 the opportunity to help shape the future of Volleyball.

“There are many young people in the sport playing, coaching, officiating and acting in an administrative capacity. Lead Volley is our way of encouraging and supporting these young people in their professional development, in the same way that we do for our athletes.” Helen Shields Volleyball WA Operations and Support Manager said.

“We’re looking for Champions of Change. We want to hear from the next generation, whether you play volleyball or not. We want people who are passionate and who believe they can help steer volleyball into the future.”

The panel will consist of ten people aged between 18 and 24 years (as of 31 December 2019). These members will be selected from an open application process and will be confirmed in mid-November 2018.

The Lead Volley panel will meet four times per year at the Volleyball WA office, regional representatives can attend via skype, with the first meeting to be held in January 2019.  The areas the Lead Volley panel may be tasked with include:

  • Development of the Lead Volley Pathway, commencing with the Lead Volley Camp
  • Accreditation and recognition for young leaders internally and externally
  • Promotion and marketing of the pathway to young people
  • Coach and referee mentor programs for young leaders

The application process will be opened each year; however previous panel members will have the opportunity to stay on as mentors.

Applications are now open and can be accessed HERE. Applications will close on October 31st 2018.
