WAVL Round #11 Results and Tables- Mighty UWA Men’s Volley

Jeremy Gryguc and Ethan Dodd (UWA) with a huge block over Balcatta’s Mark Petersen

Dazzling display from UWA and Balcatta in the Men’s Super League 1 yesterday, the fight for top spot kept all its promises. Despite the cold Sunday afternoon, we witnessed a thrilling 5 setter with UWA showing the depth and ability of their squad as they win the game 3-2  25-22,26-28,25-20,25-27,15-12, despite a number of crucial players being away from the team because of injuries or personal commitment.

With two match points, UWA had a chance to kill the game in the Fourth set however Mark Petersen and his team mates showed great character and resilience fighting back to force a tie break.

Composed, disciplined, well-balanced and strong are all words that sums perfectly the performance of this brilliant UWA team in the fifth set. This win  is a clear statement of their intention in their title defence this year.

On the Women’s side a pretty comfortable win for UWA cruising through this season and leading the tables since the start of the competition. The surprise came from the second game in the Women’s SL1 division where the young and fierce Rossmoyne team created an upset by defeating Balcatta in 5 sets 3-2,20-25,25-20,25-18,23-25,15-10.
