Volleyballers tough it out in Bunbury

Scorching sands and sweltering conditions tested the State’s best beach volleyballers at the weekend in the Alcohol Think Again Beach Volleyball State Series on Koombana Beach in Bunbury.

Contested over the two days, 84 teams consisting of 168 players entertained a crowd with their fantastic array of skills.

In the men’s AAA division final it was Volleyball WA Beach Male MVP Casey Grice partnering with the up-and-coming Sam Halley for the first time who took out the men’s competition.

In the women’s AAA division final the contest was a lot tighter, with experienced pair Tara Banks and Carrie-Anne Cairns defeating Rachel Knights and Sarah Sutcliffe in three sets, 21-17, 18-21, 15-11.
