Congratulations Deb De Angelis – Life Membership Award (Collie VA)

Deb started playing volleyball in Collie in 1991 and was quickly identified as an elite player.
She was selected in six country All Stars teams, which was an annual award to the best six country Volleyball players. They played against a city All Star team each year and Deb was captain when the country side beat a City team for the first and only time.
Deb has won Most valuable player (MVP) awards at Northam, Collie and Country week tournaments.
Deb was part of a Collie women’s team that travelled to Perth to play in the Metro A League (Ansett Cup), Deb was on the Collie Volleyball Association committee from 1993 until 2013 being president for 16 years, has been tournament coordinator of the Collie Coal Cup for the last 20 years. Deb has been coordinating the Beach Volley competition for 15 years.
In the last ten years Deb has concentrated her efforts to coaching.
Last year (2014) Deb received an Order Of Merit from Volleyball Western Australia for her contribution and dedication to Volleyball in WA.

 

Deb says: “A big embarrassing THANK YOU to my Collie Association and my gorgeous husband Dave for surprising me with a life membership with the Collie Volleyball Association and making me cry. I love playing volleyball, the Collie Coal Cup and all the wonderful friends I have made in the last 24 years. No other sport bonds people together the way volleyball does.
Again thank you for supporting our tournament and I hope to see you all back here next year.”
