AVL: Congrats WA Hornets!

What a weekend with the WA Hornets beating the Adelaide Storm two matches to nil.

Saturday’s match saw the Hornets off to a slow start losing the first set 23-25 to a seemingly strong Adelaide Storm. Peacock and Moore were highlight players from the Adelaide Storm in the early stages of Saturday night’s game. However, a few big blocks from the home teams J. Clinch, J. Monnaie and C. Dall lead to a haemorrhaging of points from the Adelaide Storm. The Hornets took out Saturday night’s game which ended 23-25, 25-21, 28-26, 25-17.

Sunday’s game was highly anticipated; could Adelaide Storm cut down on their errors and utilise their exceptional middle B. Clewes and could we see another outstanding performance from VWA Hornet’s C. Dall and M. Pallot? Unfortunately for the Adelaide Storm it was not their weekend as the Hornets ruthlessly took charge of the first set winning 25-16. The boys took their foot off the gas losing the 3rd set 23-25 but were able to close the game out in the 4th 25-20. Sunday’s game ended 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20.

The WA Hornets will play their second home round against the VVA Vultures who are currently sitting above the VWA Hornets in 2nd place.

Come down to the Rise in Maylands on Saturday, 1st November and Sunday, 2nd November to support our local players duke it out against the Vultures.
