As warmer weather approaches, beach volleyball prepares to take over WA’s best beaches this summer. Players have already had a warmup at the Groundswell Festival and the recent Rotto Cup and are now keen to get serious and compete in the Alcohol. Think Again Beach Tour 2022/2023.

This season the tour will make eight stops across WA’s pristine beaches from November to March, including two regional rounds.

The beach tour will return to the beautiful Koombana Bay in Bunbury, where WA previously hosted the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships and one more regional location yet to be confirmed.

Following the Australian Men’s Beach Volleyball Gold Medal performance and the Silver Medal collected by our Australian Women’s Team at the recent Commonwealth Games, and participation numbers tracking upwards across all codes of volleyball, the beach tour is expected to follow suit and welcome swells of new and returning competitors to the sand. Whether the goal is to compete for gold medals, maintain mental and physical health, or to enjoy weekends on the beach with mates, the tour provides multiple entry points for participation.

There are several public open spaces in Perth where beach tour athletes and social volleyball players alike come together to train or have a casual hit. In 2022, Volleyball WA launched its VolleyMates App to match people to a place and the equipment needed to play. In an initial trial, this includes the courts at City Beach, Scarborough, Novelli Reserve, Inner City Beach (West Perth), and Cockburn CRC.
