Accreditation
Attaining coaching accreditation indicates that you have completed a Level 1 Coaching Course with VWA and have fulfilled the practical requirements associated with it. It essentially certifies you as a volleyball coach.
How Accreditation Works
Accreditation is granted at three levels: 1, 2, and 3.
Level 1 Accreditation is attained by taking a Level 1 Coaching Course and then completing the Level 1 Practical Component Log and Assessment. This translates into 6 hours of class time and a minimum of 22.5 hours of practical coaching. Coaching hours have to be logged and then verified by a Level 2 or higher accredited coach, National/State/Regional coaching coordinator, club official, or school principal.
Finally, 7.5 hours of assessed coaching hours must be completed in order to complete all the practical requirements to attain accreditation. These hours must be assessed by a Level 2 or higher coach.
Level 2 Accreditation is attained by taking a Level 2 Coaching Course, which requires prior accreditation as a Level 1 coach to attend. Following the course, 60 hours of practical coaching must be logged, with verification from a Level 2 or 3 coach, National/State/Regional coaching coordinator, club official or school principal. Coaching hours can only be logged for this purpose if the individual is coaching teams of a suitable level, i.e., club or school teams competing in genuine competition.
Coaches interested in Level 1 and Level 2 accreditation MUST complete their practical hours within 1 year of attending the Coaching Course.
All coach accreditations are valid for four years, at which time coaches must demonstrate they have been actively coaching over the four years of their accreditation to have their accreditation renewed.
