Training Options

Looking to develop or improve your volleyball skills? The options available vary depending on your availability and your age. Here you will find a quick breakdown of places to train in WA.

Seniors

Adults will find that the PVL Clubs offer the best training option because they tend to accommodate all skill levels from novice to elite. Most clubs welcome individuals to join them during the season for training even if they are not playing in any league, but club membership fees will apply.

Juniors

While juniors can train with the PVL Clubs as well, they may also train at school if their schools offer volleyball training. Schools or junior health programs may also request that VWA manage a coaching clinic for interested participants. For more information on arranging a coaching clinic, please contact our office.

Primary School

Spikezone is our modified version of Volleyball designed especially for primary school students aged between 8 and 13 years.

The modifications include:

  • A smaller sized court (13 metres by 6.5 metres)
  • A lower net height (2 metres)
  • A softer and lighter ball
  • Less players on the court
  • Slight changes to the rules

Like Volleyball, Spikezone is about getting the ball over the net in three hits or less and winning the rally because the ball hits the ground in the opposition's court, the opposition fails to return the ball over the net in three hits or the opposition hits the ball out of court.
