Representative - Juniors
Volleyball WA develops and trains talented young athletes all year long. The best of these athletes are selected to represent WA at the annual Australian Junior Volleyball Championships (AJVC), where they face off against the other Australian State teams. In 2012, the AJVC will take place in Melbourne, Victoria.
WA's junior teams have always performed well at the AJVC, with WA finishing the Championships in 3rd place overall in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. The 2011 Championships in Adelaide saw the WA U/17 Women get a gold medal, while the U/21 Women & U/17 Men took out the bronze medals. It was the first time that all of WA's "first" teams played off for a medal at the one Championships.
This year sees a change in format with Volleyball Australia announcing the introduction of the U/23 age division in place of the U/21 age division. This is an exciting announcement as it allows talented athletes to represent their State at a junior level for a further two years.
If you are interested in trying out for and training as part of the WA State Teams, please note that the tryout date is 11th February 2012 at Lords Sports Club, 3 Price St Subiaco. It is COMPULSORY to register if you wish to play for WA in 2012 (regardless of whether or not you can attend the first try out session).
