For Parents
Volleyball is a high profile, widely played sport, and depending on what statistic one looks at, it is either the most popular sport or second most popular sport in the World.
Suitable for players aged 10 and older, volleyball is a safe sport. With minimal contact with other players and few chances for injury, volleyball presents a low hazard environment that promotes fitness and activity without worrying about getting hurt from physical contact.
Equipment for players is simple, with the only padding involved being optional knee pads and ankle braces. No specialised shoes are required; they can be indoor court shoes or even just running shoes or cross-trainers.
While volleyball is not a professional sport in Australia, volleyball's high profile in other countries and Australia's ability to produce quality athletes draws the eyes of leagues around the world and many players from WA are currently representing Australia at Olympic Games level or are fully paid professional athletes earning their living around the World.
