VWA President Receives Order of Australia Medal

VWA President Receives Order of Australia Medal

The Volleyball WA (VWA) President, Mr Trevor Williams, has received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) during the naming of the Queen's Birthday Honours List for 2010.

In the Australian honours system appointments to the Order of Australia confer the highest recognition for outstanding achievement and service. The Medal of the Order of Australia is awarded for service worthy of particular recognition.

Mr Williams received this prestigious award for his service to volleyball and the general community over the past 30+ years. The criteria to receive such an award is arduous and Trevor's service to volleyball had to be deemed "outstanding and meritorious". The simple fact that Trevor is a Life Member of THREE Volleyball Associations (Australian Volleyball Federation, Volleyball SA and Volleyball WA) illustrates the level of Trevor's service to volleyball in Australia.

This is a remarkable accomplishment for a lifetime dedicated to the sport of volleyball. We can not over emphasise the significance of such an accomplishment.

Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Trevor and on behalf of every WA Volleyball member and stakeholder, we would like to congratulate Trevor on this remarkable achievement.

Please read the attachment for a more detailed description of Trevor's involvement in volleyball.
