Program Objective - to achieve the highest possible performance outcomes in international competition in the world sport of Beach Volleyball.
In order to achieve the above stated objective of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) / Volleyball Australia National Beach Volleyball Program, the AIS Beach Volleyball Program - is calling for expressions of interest from athletes in the community to attend an open trial for 2012/13 AIS Beach Volleyball Scholarships.
Trials will be held from 9:00am Saturday 15th - 4:00pm Friday 21st of September at the AIS / Australian Volleyball Federation Beach Volleyball National Centre of Excellence (27 Valetta Road, Kidman Park, SA 5025).
Successful athletes will be targeted for AIS Beach Volleyball Scholarships and will be required to relocate to Adelaide to train on a full-time basis. The timing of athlete relocations for AIS Beach Volleyball Scholarships will be agreed upon in consultation with the AIS Beach Volleyball Head Coach.
Scholarship Athletes will be provided access to world class coaching, facilities and support services.
Throughout the Scholarship period (1st October 2012 - 30th September 2013), domestic and international competition programs will be agreed to between the athletes/team and the Head Coach, with funding provided according to Volleyball Australia's strategic imperatives.
Team selections will be the responsibility of the AIS Beach Volleyball Program Staff/Coaches, with the following Key Focus Area's providing a basis for development:
Individual Development - Technical and tactical skills - Physical - Mental and emotional - Holistic athlete management
Team Formation and Development - Team framework - Team goals - Role clarity of team members
In order to be eligible for the trial (and possible Scholarship), athletes must: - Be a registered and financial member of Volleyball Australia through a State Association - Be an Australian citizen
Underage athletes (born 1995 or later) may be accepted to trial on an individual basis.
The Selection Panel reserves the right to inform athletes at any stage during the trial period if they will be required for any further trial sessions as part of the selection process. All participants from the trial will be notified by Wednesday 26th of September of the outcome of their trial.

Athletes wishing to trial will need to arrange their own travel, accommodation and meals throughout the trial phase. Consideration towards financial assistance may be given for trial costs based on individual circumstances.
Coaches external to the AIS Beach Volleyball Program are welcome to attend sessions on Sunday 16th of September and are invited to develop their own coaching capacities through discussion and communication with the AIS Beach Volleyball Program Staff. Exact times of sessions will be provided closer to the date.
