The Volleyball WA Annual Awards Dinner was held on Friday 25th November at Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough. There was a record attendance of 163 people which attended the evening. It was fantastic to see plenty of junior players and their parents, as well as social, indoor and beach players.
In what has become a tradition at our annual event, guests enjoyed the photo slideshow showcasing all our fondest (and not so!) memories from the year. The room was also decorated in mini volleyball players - balloon figures made to imitate volleyball skills. They were a hit with all guests, with some people even conveniently sitting at a table with a figure that matched their hair colour!
VWA recognized the most valuable players from PVL and the 2010/2011 Beach Season, as well as the state junior and senior teams. The sought after Champion Club trophy was again this year won by Balcatta Volleyball Club. Congratulations to all of those members who contributed to their success this year. VWA also acknowledged the work done by Steve Page in developing the standards of refereeing in WA, and volunteering his time to PVL and courses, and also the WA Pearls, on their 3rd consecutive WAVL title.
We were joined by numerous VWA Life Members, past VWA Presidents including Ms Mandy Combes and the founding President Mr John Mackay and his lovely wife, Mrs Roberta Mackay. We also welcomed Mr Bill Ongley, Healthway representative - VWA's major sponsor.
