VWA Beach Volleyball Committee

At the end of 2007/2008 beach volleyball season the VWA Beach Volleyball Committee (BVC) was set up. This is a group of past and present beach players and administrators who have a passion for the sport and have volunteered their time to assist in its development.

Beach Volleyball Committee Objectives:

  • The BVC will make recommendations to VWA regarding the improvement of beach volleyball as a product.
  • The BVC will aim to improve the quality and structure of beach volleyball tournaments from a players' and spectators' perspective.
  • The BVC will aim to create a link between beach volleyball players and VWA.
  • The BVC will provide administrative support to VWA where appropriate.

Damian Oldmeadow Chair Person

Has been involved in different aspects of the sport for many years: as a volleyball player for 25 years from high school, through state juniors to  WAVL Superleague and the WA and National Beach Volleyball Tours; as a Physiotherapist for the Australian Volleyball Team since 1997 including involvement at 3 Olympic Games with the National Men's' Team; as a VWA Board Member for 10 years, Chairman of the VWA Beach Volleyball Committee and as a VWA President since 2012.

Damian is passionate about all aspects of the sport, but particularly want all facets on a local, state and national level to work together. He believes the key to this is good communication and common goals and VWA and its board are focussed on improving this. The Board want all of our members and all volleyball players in WA to understand that the VWA Board volunteer their time to make the sport as good as it can be, for as many as possible. The Board make decisions based on feedback provided across many mediums including player surveys, personal discussions and meetings and appreciate it is not always possible to keep everyone happy all the time.  The Board's ongoing challenge is to find the balance between elite level and participation level and they are guided by our major sponsors The Department of Sport and Recreation and Healthway in how these services are delivered.

The VWA board is always keen for your constructive feedback, but is also desperately short on volunteers for our committees and in general so please let us know if you can help in any way.
